Oktober 2023 hatten wir Prof. Dr. Timothy Nunan und internationale Teilnehmer zu einem Sondierungsworkshop in Geisa zu Gast.<\/p><p>Die beiden Projekte der \"Reform und \u00d6ffnung\" in der Volksrepublik China (VR China) und der Perestroika in der Sowjetunion (UdSSR) haben die chinesische und die sowjetische Gesellschaft ver\u00e4ndert. Deng Xiaoping und Zhao Ziyang verwandelten eine r\u00fcckst\u00e4ndige Agrargesellschaft, die sich von den Wirren der Kulturrevolution erholte, in ein Land, das in die globale kapitalistische Wirtschaft eingebettet war - wenn auch eines, das nicht z\u00f6gerte, Herausforderungen an die Herrschaft der Kommunistischen Partei Chinas zu zerschlagen. In der Sowjetunion f\u00fchrten Michail Gorbatschows Bem\u00fchungen um die Wiederbelebung des sozialistischen Traums zu mehrdeutigen Ergebnissen. Gorbatschows Wirtschaftsreformen f\u00fchrten zum Zerfall der sowjetischen Wirtschaft, w\u00e4hrend die Versuche, Glasnost oder Offenheit in das sowjetische System einzuf\u00fchren, die Herrschaft der Kommunistischen Partei untergruben und eine B\u00fcchse der Pandora mit historischen und nationalistischen Ressentiments \u00f6ffneten. In den letzten zehn Jahren haben Historiker begonnen, eine Geschichte der sozialistischen 1980er Jahre zu schreiben, die sich auf Archive, Memoiren und Dokumentenm\u00e4rkte in der ehemaligen UdSSR und China st\u00fctzt.<\/p><p>Zu diesem Zweck hat Prof. Dr. Timothy Nunan (Universit\u00e4t Regensburg) mit Unterst\u00fctzung des Point Alpha Research Institute einen zweit\u00e4gigen Workshop organisiert, der Wissenschaftler der internationalen Geschichte nach Geisa brachte, um zu untersuchen, wie staatliche und nichtstaatliche Akteure auf der ganzen Welt die Reformprozesse in der UdSSR und der VR China von 1978 (dem Aufstieg Deng Xiaopings) bis 1991 (der Aufl\u00f6sung der Sowjetunion) verstanden und sich an sie angepasst haben. Dieser Workshop brach mit den Konventionen, indem er sich nicht auf Workshop-Papiere oder einen Sammelband konzentrierte. Unser Ziel ist es vielmehr, eine kleine Sammlung \u00fcbersetzter Prim\u00e4rdokumente zu erstellen, die in k\u00fcnftigen Lehrveranstaltungen zu den 1980er Jahren verwendet werden k\u00f6nnen.<\/p><p>Die eingeladenen Wissenschaftler:innen wurden gebeten, englische \u00dcbersetzungen eines Prim\u00e4rdokuments anzufertigen, das zeigt, wie Akteure aus Nordkorea, S\u00fcdkorea, Irak, Afghanistan, Tansania, Brasilien und Ungarn die sowjetischen und chinesischen Reformen wahrgenommen haben. Im Laufe unserer Zeit in Geisa werden die eingeladenen Wissenschaftler:innen auch einen kurzen Text verfassen, der das Dokument f\u00fcr die Leser:innen einordnet und kontextualisiert. Eine Reihe intensiver Gespr\u00e4che und R\u00fcckmeldungen an einem Wochenende erm\u00f6glichte es den Teilnehmer:innen, ein endg\u00fcltiges \"Ergebnis\" zu erzielen, n\u00e4mlich eine Quellensammlung und einen gemeinsam verfassten einleitenden Essay, der die Themen der verschiedenen Quellen hervorhebt. Im Laufe des Herbstes und Winters werden diese Ressourcen in das digitale Archiv des Wilson Center hochgeladen und stehen dann Studierenden und Hochschullehrer:innen zur Verf\u00fcgung.<\/p><p>Noch ehrgeiziger ist, dass die in den zwei Tagen in Geisa gebildeten Netzwerke f\u00fcr zuk\u00fcnftige Drittmittelantr\u00e4ge genutzt werden k\u00f6nnen. Angesichts der geringen Gr\u00f6\u00dfe des Workshops w\u00e4re es in der Tat unm\u00f6glich, eine Auswahl von Dokumenten zusammenzustellen, die alle globalen Dimensionen der Reaktionen auf die chinesischen und sowjetischen Reformprozesse widerspiegelt.
