Hope in the Anthropocene

Hope in the Anthropocene

Lecture and discussion with Prof. Dr. David Chandler (University of Westminster)

Abstract: “For many commentators, the Anthropocene implies the end of a modern telos of progress and reveals the limits of scientific ‘reason’. In this informal presentation, I’ll consider the implications of this closure for contemporary political futures thinking. In doing this, I highlight the importance of hope and consider three modes of working with hope: the Speculative, the Pragmatic and the Nihilist.” – David Chandler
